RICHARD JAMES
London
Savile Row
Spring Summer 2017
I had the pleasure of getting an invitation to Richard James’ Presentation at the Savile Row store in London. It was a delight to discover the Spring Summer 2017 Collection during the London Men’s Collections, which took place June 9th – 13th 2016.
The collection gave me an instant state of feel-good and dreams of an era filled with adventure, courage and style, perfectly framed but in the 50’s Cuban landscape. All of these couldn’t stand alone without the British flair, the sense of heritage, the drive. The conduct had to be instrumented by no other than Design & Brand Director, Toby Lamb. The results: enchanting, impeccable summery which suits and ensembles that a gentlemen yearns for.
On the tracks of “Dandy Kim” the collection gives me a story like atmosphere where delicate pinks, blues and mint pastels lift the spirit in a most serene affair close to forgetting we emerged from “a less innocent age” – allowing my imagination to mirror Michael Dandy Kim Caborn – Waterfield’s “specialty” are the marks of incisive bright neon accents of the same hues being the faithful remainders.
The collection is rich in details and includes shirts, pocket-squares and ties all with refined but daring prints that cultivate the tropical Art Deco. I also have to mention the mesmerizing embroidery – handmade in London. This is a collection that I can get lost in for endless exploration and get found in Havana.
S/S 2017 “Dandy Kim” by Richard James – Savile Row is opening us the road to discover the paths of a classic bad boy who seems to have insisted to write his own story and to whom the Cuban land was the ideal place for exploration of his nature. At least for a while…
