Another New York’s Bridal Week has passed and it left us daydreaming of a perfect fairy tale wedding day. Showrooms and runways were dominated by the most stunning designs of wedding gowns: from traditional feminine pieces with a subtle modern twist (such as the Viktor & Rolf debut collection) and the ones that are bold and totally unexpected, to dresses suitable for younger women that embraced the boho style, as well as sophisticated models that have classy see-through parts or pearls and lace incorporated.

Simple and delicate: like a Greek goddess
Brides that do not plan on throwing a traditional formal wedding will be pleased to hear several designers created wonderful cuts suitable for more casual venues such as the beach or the woods. Sophia Kokosalaki made an homage to ancient Greek fashion designing romantic gowns of lightweight fabrics without heavy detailing.
Simplicity is the key here and tasteful mixing of materials too: sheer trend ruled the scene! Just think dresses that are see-through but have strategically positioned lace patches all across the design, covering and revealing everything that needs to be covered and revealed and leaving an impression of tattooed lace on the body – so sexy yet sophisticated. Add a silver wreath or some amazing bridal jewelry and you’ll end up with a stunning look worthy of the name Aphrodite.
No fuss gowns for wild hearts: rise of the boho style
A perfect boho wedding starts with the choice of the right dress. Floaty materials that fall freely down the bodyline are in the focus of designs of Stone Fox Bride x Savannah Miller: while white is traditionally the typical color for a wedding gown, designers chose to turn to other shades such as ivory, making a statement for the free-spirit bride to be.
Gypsy-inspired cuts were presented by Katharine Polk: just think off-shoulder creamy white dresses with embroidered details and layers, or playful ruffles and milky see-through coats with subtle lace flower patterns.
Going beyond the dresses: bridal jumpsuits
For all the brides out there that think outside of the box – designers have a true treat for you. Bridal jumpsuits are the number one unexpected trend from this year’s bridal week!
Viktor & Rolf showed mostly classic cuts such as A-lines, but in cooperation with another designer Justin Alexander, they’ve presented a classy white jumpsuit with a bow on the waist. Mark Zunino showed a bold attitude by mixing the best of the two worlds: jumpsuit combined with a lovely laced corset and the attached skirt looks absolutely amazing.
All that jazz: art deco inspiration
Designers were clearly inspired by that “Great Gatsby” vibe: just check out the designs of Marchesa and you’ll be stunned with carefully incorporated art deco details on the mermaid cut gowns. UK designer Percy is the absolute winner of this vintage look. Combining soft rose gold and nude tops with creamy white bottoms, Percy brought us a lovely mixture of pearls and lace attached to corsets.
Naeem Khan pushed this trend even further, bringing us the authentic silvery fringe dress with daring above the knee length: it seems as the bride is about to start the Charleston dance any moment!
Frosting on the top: evolution of the metallic trend
In the previous season, we witnessed the rise of the metallic trend that was focused on gold, silver, and copper sequins and details, helping the bride shine bright like a diamond with just the right dose of chic. Now the trend has evolved, predominantly focusing on icy details and silver. Jenny Packham chose the shade of floral white and added just a bit of frosting through the details on the upper part of the dress. Embroidered silver outlines are also seen within Jenny Packham’s designs, while more bold solutions in the form of oversized silver sequins or silver-blue details were presented by Theia.
This trend found its way to bridal footwear and other wedding details: elegant wedding invitations with silver details are in, as well as the stunning white flower bouquets with just the right dose of frostiness and laced shoes with incorporated silver thread or subtle silver-shine stones.
