Hopeless + Cause Atelier SS17

Dara Ambriz is the designer behind Hopeless + Cause Atelier, a social wear brand with a deeper meaning. Ambriz has been working for many years to empower local non-profit organizations. It wasn’t until about a year ago that she chose to combine her past experiences with her childhood dream of being a non-traditional fashion designer.

Though Ambriz originally thought becoming a fashion designer was a HOPELESS cause,  she truly believes her super power is being able to show people how beautiful they are by the transformation of feeling confident and comfortable in what they wear.

And what better way to execute her passion than by creating a good CAUSE to go behind it?

“Life is filled with cause and effect. What if there were a fashion line that supported: livable wages, eco-social practices, and giving back?” says Ambriz.

Tell us a about how each buyer can give back to the community with their purchase of your clothing?

“10% of each sale benefits the customer’s charity of choice. Once the charity has been set then it becomes perpetual for recreations.”

Ambriz’s HEART is in New Mexico, and her SOUL in NYC. Her heritage has a big influence on who she is today. She is Spanish, Irish, Cherokee and Italian. Her background influences each design aesthetic with edgy and unexpected looks.

How have you incorporated your heritage into each of your recent custom designs?

“My heritage has been my influence for the SS17 collection. Pulling from the Spanish Flamenco dancers for the “Delainey” to the shamrock greens used in the 60s influence, sunsets and earthtones in the “Caprice” line (my custom batik pieces) and the body con of one of my favorite muses, Sophia Loren.”

On Friday, September 16, 2016, Ambriz is hosting a Downtown Banque Rooftop event. Hopeless + Cause Atelier’s spring/summer 2017 apparel line will take the runway while interweaving its theme- Heart and Soul.

Can you provide a fun little sneak peak as to what your guests can expect for the event?

“The show is taking place on the roof top under a Harvest Moon. If you haven’t visited NM before, the September skies are breathtaking (New Mexico isn’t called the Land of Enchantment for nothing). I have incorporated live music and dance into the evening and the formal program will end with my heartfelt gratitude and a fashionable fundraiser for one of my favorite non-profit organizations, Dental Care in Your Home.”
