Fourth day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin:
A/W 2015 Ewa Herzog, Studio 30ph, Irene Luft, Use Unused

by Louann “Emmalynn” von Brochwitz

After amazing three days at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, the tide turned on Thursday, starting with the Ewa Herzog runway show. I made a somewhat late entrance to the show and when I arrived, someone occupied my seat and I had squeeze myself in between a blogger and a grumpy journalist. The rest of the day wasn’t much better, but the shown collections were aesthetically appealing and the runway shows were fabulous!

The Ewa Herzog collection celebrates the woman that is sophisticated and sexy yet playful and demure.  Brocades, lace, velvet, wool and sequines are all employed to blend the femininity of yesteryear with more daring, body baring design.  I really like that Ewa makes a point of making sure her clothes are produced under fair trade conditions.

A collection of designs by the Master students of the faculty of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, Studio 30ph was an inspiring look into the creative expression of the next generation of designers.  Having each student present their pieces in winter white focused the squarely on design elements.

Sheer fabrics and beautiful lace are combined to be completely feminine to almost industrial in the new Irene Luft collection.  Head gear, reminiscent of swim caps, and sheer tops add an edgy quality to otherwise festive designs.  Advant-garde style woven in with with perfectly feminine shapes made Irene Luft’s collection shine!

The designs of Budapest designer USE UNUSED, were a nod to timeless and uncomplicated design.  Clever use of earth tone plaids, perferated fabrics and accented khaki prove that proper use of fabric is integral to all well designed clothes. Loved the white soled shoes.
